W&N Series 7 Kolinsky Sable Brushes
Considered to be one of the best watercolor brushes available, the standards for the Series 7 Kolinsky Sable brushes were set in 1866, when Queen Victoria gave orders to Winsor & Newton to produce the finest watercolor brushes in her favorite size; the No. 7.
Today, the Series 7 is made from pure Kolinsky Sable Hair, encased in rust-proof, nickel plated ferrules with short, black, polished handles. Each brush is handmade from high quality raw materials.
Every Series 7 brush comes to a crisp point, the natural spring in the brush sustains the point and creates superior control between the brush and painting surface. Color flows evenly and consistently from the point, with enough carrying capacity in the belly of the brush to allow gestural strokes. Artists who seek quality and longevity will look no further than the Series 7.
FLAX art & design is a genuine Oakland institution. Opening their first store in 1938, they're now on their 3rd generation of family ownership and have recently relocated to a beautiful new Downtown location that could best be described as a "toy store for artists." 80 years in and they're still putting art and community front and center. You can visit them at their own site here, or find more of their products right here on Keep Oakland Alive.
