Gloss Gel Medium has the same body and viscosity of Heavy Body Artist Color and, when mixed with color, it will add body and a gloss finish. It dries clear to translucent depending on the thickness of application. In addition to adding gloss to an acrylic color, Gloss Gel Medium will extend drying time and increase the brilliance and transparency of the color without changing the thickness.
This medium can be used as a transparent ground for acrylic paint instead of gesso to allow the painting surface to be seen. When applying to raw canvas it is important to add pressure to ensure the medium is properly worked into and bonded with the canvas weave. With its excellent adhesive properties, gel medium can also be used as a glue and for bonding images for collage or decoupage.
